Common Allergens
The most common allergens are:
The house dust mite - the warmth and humidity in most houses provides an ideal breeding environment for the house dust mite. No matter how clean your house is, dust mite will be present.
Pollen from grass, trees and weeds.
Moulds and fungus – again this grows in damp condition and usually visible in houses that have damp patches on the walls, or black mould around window sills. Mould spores can also be found in the soil of house plants.
Food and drinks – commonest are items such as milk, wheat, fish and peanuts. Also preservatives and artificial colourings can trigger allergic attacks.
Cosmetics, toiletries and perfumes – skin allergy
Detergents, washing powder – skin allergy
Jewellery, especially with synthetic material – skin allergy
Insect bites
Latex or rubber
Medicines, especially antibiotics, anesthetics, and non steroidal anti-inflammatories.
